Hi Everyone – just wanted to remind you about the CWA Member and guests Corn Roast that takes place this weekend. It is CWA’s way of giving back to its members and is a very informal and friendly evening. Here are the details:

Date: Saturday August 18th (2018)

Our Hosts: Ann and Chris Johnston and family

Time: Corn Roast starts at 5pm for socializing. Hamburgers and hot dogs will start flowing from 5:30pm on . . . Unfortunately, due to the EXTREME fire ban, we are not able to do our usual bonfire to cook the corn, so the menu has had to change slightly. Also, unfortunately we had to forgo the Children’s games but there will be some toys for them to play with.

Location: 126 Chapman Drive (between Maijac and Port Carmen). Please note the new location this year. Car parking is along Chapman Drive, and boat parking is at their dock. As in the past, we may have to tie boats together if there are too many.

This is a great opportunity to become acquainted with other lake members and have a delicious BBQ dinner at the same time (hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie dogs and burgs, lots of fresh veggies, desserts, drinks – what more could we want? During the evening Mike (Kinsey) will be announcing and awarding the Poker Run prize to the winning team. And it will be a fun evening mingling with people you know and getting to know others that you haven’t met yet.

FOOD BANK – we will have our drop boxes available for any food items you are able to donate. Cash and cheques are also very welcome and allows the food bank to purchase those special items that are badly needed. Receipts are given for donations $10 or more.

POKER RUN: A further email will be coming out tomorrow which takes place Saturday as well, between 11am and 3pm. There will be 6-7 dock stops. Poker hands are $10 each with the proceeds going to the Burk’s Falls and District Food Bank. You can do the Poker Run by boat, car, canoe, row boat, by walking or any method of your choice. Best poker hand wins!

CORN ROAST “take down” – A group of volunteers we will be meeting at the Johnston’s home Sunday morning at 9am to clean up their property and return the tents and other paraphernalia to the storage unit. If the timing fits with your plans and you can help it would be greatly appreciated. It not, don’t worry – we have it covered!

We really hope you can participate in the Poker Run and then attend the Corn Roast in the evening - it will be a wonderful day enjoying the last two CWA social events. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
